For organizations who rely heavily on one large event every year, the pressure to hype the event can wind down at certain times of the year, but it’s important to keep up communications with your athletes. You want to keep people excited all year long so they continue to come back each year. Here are a few way to keep the excitement alive:
Keep up communications
Communication comes in many forms. It comes through email messaging, direct mail, social media, smaller events, etc. A newer, and effective form of communication, is an influencer program. Posts from influencers tend to come across as more authentic than a brand posting and traditional ad. It’s a great path to explore!
Social media is key
Year-round social media is essential—not only for your event, but for the health of your social media page. The more often you post, and the more your posts are engaged with, the more frequently your posts will be seen. So post, post, post!
Think outside the box
What will keep your audience engaged all year? Do they want to read blogs about training? Do they want to hear about suggested playlists? What to eat while training? Do they want a podcast? Get to know your audience and find something new to keep them engaged throughout the year.
Keep a countdown
If New Year’s Eve teaches us anything, it’s that people love countdowns! They’re exciting and constantly remind people to take an action. Especially if your big event is a marathon or a triathlon that athletes train for, a countdown is especially a good idea, as it helps remind them to kick start their training!
